Parador De Cangas De Onis - Villanueva de Cangas de Onis

Breakfast was a highlight, heaps of options but dinner felt a bit plain.

The hotel was in an ideal location, outside the town on the banks of the river. The room was airy and a nice size, had TV with satellite channels, climate control, and an individual safe. The hard-working staff accommodated all the needs....  

My room was very well decorated and well-equipped room with balcony and tea and coffee making facilities, for instance...

The room was a little dated, for me personally.

This is a lovely hotel formed from a former monastery in peaceful countryside. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food and service were excellent.

I liked the secluded, quiet location, next to a river and surrounded by hills and woods. The old part of the Parador was very beautiful, the new annex where we stayed, less so. However the bedroom was large...  

Staying here with my family, including mum, was good! We ventured out to the beautiful Ruta del Cares for a hike, awe-inspiring. The view from the top was picture-perfect, and we loved trying out the local breakfast options every...  

I am a frequent client of several Paradors. Very pleasant stay, apart from the restaurant's service and food. Not very professional staff at the restaurant. Also, I was not impressed with the quality of the cuisine, considering...  

The hotel was fantastic, staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms perfect - ours overlooked a tumbling stream and was lovely having the french doors open and listen to the water.

The only disappointment to us, which was just a minor thing, was the breakfast. The buffet style morning meal, although a wide range, was lacking in the hot foods, for example, the eggs every morning ran out, and when replenished were a little cold and short in numbers. There was sometimes a stampede for them, still leaving some disappointed people without any.

Ideal for families seeking luxury and comfort

The kids loved the spacious rooms and the beautiful garden just outside! I particularly enjoyed the amazing cheese tasting event led by a knowledgeable director, it was delicious and educational.

It wasn't cheap, but the value was more than acceptable.

The hotel was high quality and clean with hard-working staff who provided excellent service. The breakfast was delicious and absolutely superb for coffee or tea, and the food was outstanding. Here I spent 2 nights and appreciated being...

An Enriching Stay in a Historical Gem

My experience was improved with the beautiful breakfast room, where I enjoyed views of the garden through floor-to-ceiling windows while savoring an extensive breakfast buffet that included freshly-squeezed orange juice and local specialties. The tranquil river setting provided a scenic backdrop. The staff offered personalized advice on local attractions, further enriching my visit, especially the recommendations for exploring nearby Cangas de Onís and the fine Covadonga Lakes. While the cheese tasting session was an absolute delight, the coffee served during breakfast did not meet the standards of the otherwise really good culinary offerings.

Interesting old building with new annex for most rooms, popular with locals for weddings and other functions, plenty of parking, good value food, nice location being 30 min walk from Cangas so quiet in evenings....
